Here's two recipes to make a quick breakfast when you're in a hurry. One recipe for a coffee and the other for a dessert like breakfast. I hope you enjoy these simple recipes. Sorry for such a long break from any posts. My senior year has been insanely crazy. Iced Coffee, shaken not stirred
PB Chocolate BananaSchool is just around the corner. It's easy to get caught up in summer and forget about school but you might want some fun school supplies to make studying more fun. My pencil case:
The Le Pen pens write so smooth and their colors are vibrant. I also love the R.S.V.P Pentel. Mine are in black ink in medium. If you are from the Midwest RAYGUN is a most shop. They have a variety of fun novelty items like the pens above. If you're in need of a planner I recommend The Happy Planner. The pages of the week have space for you to decorate. If you go onto Pinterest you can print off PDFs that fit into the planner layout which make it easy to personalize.
Above to the right are my tassle magnets which I just bought this year from Walmart. I thought they'd be a perfect addition. Below are some more close up photos of Thea and I's locker. I hope everyone has a great school year! Tell me what your favorite school supply is below in the comments.
Over the 6 years of running cross country in school I've changed and added to things I eat during training. I'm always looking for the next best thing to improve my performance. I wanted to share a few things I've added this year and why. Pictured below is my post run snack. It consists of pickles, trail mix and tart cherry juice. 1. Tart Cherry JuiceWhen I was talking to my coach this summer she recommended for me to try drinking tart cherry juice. She told me it was suppose to help with muscle soreness and so I decided to give it a try. I was curious as to what else it could do for me so I did a little research. Tart cherry juice has been tested with marathon runners and recovery time. They found that runners who drank the juice leading up to the race and after their race had a faster recovery. It has also showed signs of decreasing symptoms of exercise induced muscle damage. Along with these helpful running benefits it also helps in lowering the risk of gout attacks, strokes and helps protect the heart. I like to drink a small glass of juice in the morning and one after my run. 2. Beets
3. PicklesAgain I was reading another article on Runner's World. This one was about weird foods some professional runner's eat. The one that stood out to me was pickles. Ultrarunner Mike Wardian swears by eating them mid race or post race because they help to replace the salt lost by sweat.
Wild cherries, bike rides, lake views and more. Take a trip to Door County, Wisconsin and see what they have to offer. With only 3 days I got a great taste of a little bit of everything. Almost every town in Door county has a beautiful harbor. There is many lake activities to partake in. Whether it be swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, parasailing and more. Door County is well known for it's cherries. Besides cherries being a delicious fruit they also have many health benefits. Many athlete's drink tart cherry juice for it's many benefits including muscle recovery. Visit Peninsula State park and see the light house. Also take bikes and go around the park through the woods.
Lola's bakery and restaurant has a great breakfast. I enjoyed the corn beef hash which was simple but very flavorful.
Cave Point County Park has some beautiful sights. If you want to see the great outdoors this is the spot to go. Take a kayak and you can get up close to the caves. Malibu Moo's has delicious and fresh custard. I got a chocolate cherry custard. The cherries were sourced locally from the county. If you didn't know this already but I really enjoy good food. Hope to see you in Door County!
The Sea Lion is a nice little hike in Thunder Bay. It has some steep spots but is very doable. My family went up to visit my brother in Thunder Bay, ON.
Pictures above is Silver falls located at Silver Falls Provincial park. This was a really neat spot to hike to. We were lucky enough that the trail was not flooded out.
Pictured above is me in the Botanical garden. For a small garden it was really neat. Lots of tropical plants and some huge cacti. The food above is from is from Apple Chipotle's. It was the feast for two but we shared it between four and we could barely finish it. Everything was delicious though. This platter include a variety of their meats and sides. If you want to try lots of things at their restaurant I recommend it.
While in New York City I went to the Top of the Rock. Which is where the photo above was taken. It is 67 stories up. Going out onto the outside balcony it was rather windy and I felt like I'd fly off of the balcony. On 5th Avenue I had to check out my favorite designer shop, Henri Bendel. I even got to sign my name on their graffiti wall. More pictures from Henri are below. It was raining the day we were on 5th Avenue. I went to Mood fabrics which is where they get fabric on Project Runway. I wish I could buy all of my fabric from them. Their selection was amazing and the staff was very helpful. While exploring China Town and Little Italy we stopped at Cafe Palermo to get some coffee and Italian cookies. The coffees in the picture look much bigger then they actually were. They were really little. The picture below was taken in Washington Square park. One of the last things we did was go to The MET. It was really neat to see all the different styles of art. We didn't have much time but it was neat.
